Tabernacle Stolen From Beaverton Church

Tabernacle Stolen From Beaverton Church

Beaverton Police are investigating the theft of a gold Tabernacle from the prayer chapel at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church overnight Wednesday. Officer Mike Rose says a parishioner arriving at the chapel early Thursday morning discovered thieves had pried the ornate, one foot-square box from the wooden altar it had been bolted to.

It's worth about 10-thousand-dollars, but more in sentimental value. The Tabernacle, used to house sacred bread for communion, has been part of the parish for many years.

The Beaverton Police Department is asking for the communities help in locating this Tabernacle, so it can be returned to the church and whoever took it can be held accountable for stealing it. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Beaverton Police Department at (503) 629-0111
