Oregonian to shrink in size

The Oregonian has announced it will shrink the size of the paper by eight inches as it moves from a broadsheet format to a compact format.

Publisher N. Christian Anderson III said it will allow color to be used on every page.

Some sections will convert in February while the main change will happen April 2.

The page width will remain at 11 inches, but the height will shrink from 23 inches to 15 inches.

Last fall, The Oregonian reduced home delivery to four days a week as it moved to focus on it's digitial version.

The compact format is common in Europe and is used by several U.S. papers including the Columbus Dispatch and Cincinnati Enquirer.
