Man missing in Beaverton found

UPDATE: Russel Welsh was found by a Transit Police officer Friday night.  He was in good condition and returned to the care facility where he was staying.

69-year-old Russell Welsh has been missing since around 2 p.m. Thursday from the home where he stays near Vose Elementary School which is west of Highway 217 and Denny Road.

He's described as 5'10", thin build, balding gray hair and thin facial hair. Welsh was last seen wearing blue jeans, dark blue sweat shirt and a back brace on the outside of the sweatshirt. He walks with a shuffle and is slow in his speak, but can communicate. He may be confused and does not know the area well.

A search was conducted by Search One and they were unable to locate Welsh. Volunteers from Washington County Search and Rescue and members of the City of Beaverton Community Emergency Response Team went yard by yard in the area around SW Marylyn Place. The Beaverton Police Department is asking residents in this area to check their yards and any out buildings to see if Welsh might be there.

With the temperatures below freezing overnight the Beaverton Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating Welsh. Anyone who has seen him is asked to call (503) 629-0111.
