I-205 closes overnight for construction

Drivers on Interstate 205 will encounter a series of nightly closures at the Interstate 5 junction in Salmon Creek next week.

Contractor crews with the Washington State Department of Transportation will close both directions of I-205 between I-5 and Northeast 134th Street while they demolish a ramp that bridges I-205.

Crews are removing the ramp to make room for the new Northeast 139th Street interchange, which will carry drivers over the I-5/I-205 junction and help reduce traffic congestion in the busy Salmon Creek area.

I-205 closure schedule
• Monday, Sept. 23: Both directions of I-205 closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Tuesday, Sept. 24: Both directions of I-205 closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Wednesday, Sept. 25: Both directions of I-205 closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Thursday, Sept. 26: Northbound I-205 closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Friday, Sept. 27: Northbound I-205 closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 28: Both directions of I-205 closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday

Detour routes
Through traffic can use I-5 and State Route 14 to detour around the closure. Local traffic will be able to use I-205 to access State Route 500, Padden Parkway and other local interchanges.

The demolition work is part of the Salmon Creek Interchange Project, which is scheduled for completion in 2014.
