UO on probation for rules violations

The University of Oregon has lost a scholarship and will be on probation for three years for recruiting violations under previous coach Chip Kelly. Post-season games will not be affected.

The NCAA issued the decision Wednesday.

The NCAA's Division I Infractions Committee found that Kelly and the University failed to monitor the recruiting program.

Oregon self-reported the issue to the NCAA. In 2011, the school paid recruiter Willie Lyles $25,000 for scouting services. Lyles was also connected to an Oregon recruit.
