Beavers Move Back on Top in Pac-12

Freshman Andrew Moore tossed a 2-hit shutout, and Oregon State regained sole possession of first place in the Pac-12 by routing Oregon 9-0 at PK Park in Eugene.

After being shut out 3-0 in the first game of the 3-game series, the Beavers offense finally produced a run with one swing of the bat.  Michael Conforto broke a scoreless tie with an opposite field home run off Cole Irvin with two outs in the top of the sixth.  Ryan Barnes then drilled a solo shot in the seventh to give OSU a 2-0 advantage. The Beavers sent ten men to the plate in the eighth inning and scored five insurance runs before wrapping up the scoring with two more runs in the ninth.

Pitching in his hometown for the first time in his college career, Moore was magnificent.  He walked only one and struck out two while throwing his second shutout of the season.  He lowered his ERA to 1.34.

OSU's Andy Peterson also had a great day at the plate.  Peterson went 4 for 4 with a walk.

The Beavers now lead the Ducks by one game in the race for the Pac-12 lead. The two teams will play the rubber game of the series Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.  Radio coverage begins at 11:30 a.m. on Fox Sports Radio 620.
